Trust Your Chimney Sweep Service To The Clean & Caring Pros At SirVent Lexington
Chimney sweeping and cleaning isn’t just a thing of the past — it’s just as vital today as ever. How so? Soot and flammable deposits can build up inside of the fireplace and chimney with use, and nesting materials, twigs, and leaves can block an uncapped flue. Without cleanings, buildup and blockages can cause problems that range from a smoky fireside experience and flue liner deterioration to a full blown chimney fire.
Naturally, we want to prevent damage and fire hazards, which is why we align with the NFPA’s recommendations for annual inspections every single year. Inspections provide an overall assessment of the chimney and fireplace and can alert us to when and if a chimney cleaning is needed. By keeping up with annual inspections, you’ll know just what’s needed and when, without having to worry about hidden dangers or damage.
Our chimney sweeps are designed to be thorough and effective, and involve the cleaning of every component — top to bottom, including these:
- firebox & fireplace
- smoke chamber
We’ll also check these areas, as well as the chimney cap, crown/chase cover, flashing, and masonry for any damage, leaks, or concerns. When we’re finished with our sweeping and inspection, we’ll let you know of our findings so you can make informed decisions about what steps to take.

Chimney Sweeping – Commonly Asked Questions
We understand that most homeowners are unaware about many aspects of their fireplace or chimney system. We strongly believe in informing and educating our customers as best we can. Below are a few common questions we get asked about our chimney sweeping service.
How often should I have my chimney swept?
The short answer is, it depends. Fuel types, frequency of use, and condition of your system all play a role in how often a chimney should be swept. Here at SirVent Lexington, we operate using the guidelines spelled out in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 211 code. This code states that all chimneys should be inspected by a CSIA-certified chimney sweep on an annual basis, and cleaned and maintained as needed. When you schedule an annual inspection with one of our sweeps, we’ll carefully evaluate your chimney system and let you know whether or not it’s due for a cleaning.
How long does a chimney sweep service call usually last?
We will set aside 2 hours in our schedule for a sweep and inspection. While it may take less than that in order to do the work, we like to make sure we’ve got plenty of time to go over any questions or concerns that a customer may have. We also want to make sure we have plenty of time to clean up the fireplace area and not leave any mess behind.
Will a chimney sweep dirty up my home?
No, there will be no mess at all when you have SirVent Lexington on the job! We lay out drop cloths on the floors and surrounding furniture, and operate powerful vacuum cleaners to keep the soot and debris from entering your home.
Tough Creosote? We’re Tougher & We’ll Get Rid Of It
One of the biggest threats in a dirty chimney is creosote. This flammable and highly corrosive deposit settles along the flue walls and in the fireplace and smoke chamber, and can cause extensive damage, as well as a chimney fire. If it’s not removed, over time it will restrict air flow and contribute to the production of even more creosote. But what’s the solution?
While glazed creosote cannot be removed with traditional sweeping methods, our team can still eliminate even the toughest creosote. We use PCR, which is a product that breaks down and absorbs glazed creosote. We simply apply the product to the creosote and watch it work. As the product dries, it flakes off, taking all that creosote off with it. All we have to do afterwards is remove any remaining residue and continue with our sweeping.
